Honouring All Little Fighter Mothers

Today Team Little Fighters Cancer Trust would like to reach out to all Mothers to wish them all Love, Light & Strength on this Mother’s Day.

A Child’s Angel

Once upon a time there was a child ready to be born.

One day he asked God: “They tell me you are sending me to earth tomorrow,

how am I going to live there being so small and helpless?”

GOD replied, “Among the many angels, I chose one for you.

She will be waiting for you and will take care of you.”

“But tell me, here in Heaven, I don’t do anything else but sing and smile,

that’s enough for me to be happy.”

“Your angel will sing for you and will also smile for you every day.

And you will feel your angel’s love and be happy.”

“And how am I going to be able to understand when people talk to me,

if I don’t know the language that men talk?”

“Your angel will tell you the most beautiful and sweet words you will ever hear,

and with much patience and care, your angel will teach you how to speak.”

“And what am I going to do when I want to talk to you?”

“Your angel will place your hands together and will teach you how to pray.”

“I’ve heard that on earth there are bad men. Who will protect me?”

“Your angel will defend you even if it means risking its life.”

“But I will always be sad because I will not see you anymore.”

“Your angel will always talk to you about me and will teach you

the way for you to come back to me, even though I will always be next to you.”

At that moment there was much peace in Heaven,

but voices from earth could already be heard.

And the child in a hurry asked softly: “Oh God, if I am about to leave now,

please tell me my angel’s name.”

“Your angel’s name is of no importance,

you will call your angel: ‘Mommy’.”

While most mothers celebrate Mother’s Day gleefully and get really spoiled, not every mother feels the same…

Mother’s Day is not a happy day for every mother…

There are the mothers who are sitting at the bedside of their child… as they have been for days, weeks, months and perhaps even years… just praying that their child wins his or her battle over cancer.

To all these mothers we send out special hugs and love.

You may not feel happy today, you may feel stressed and you may feel as though life is overwhelming you…

To You we wish a Day of Absolute Divine Inner Peace.

You do not need to be strong…
You do not need to smile…
You do not need to stress…
You do not need to do anything at all.

Just lean back and allow yourself to be carried on the One Love that is there for just that purpose…

Live Life Positively

The Bereaved Mother Quote

Then there are the mothers whose Little Fighters have unfortunately lost their battle, and whether it is the first Mother’s Day without their child or the twenty-first one, the pain and the longing is the same.

Our hearts go out to these mothers who, although they may no longer have a child are nevertheless still mothers.

We feel your pain and just want to let you know that we are holding you in our hearts today.

May a sense of peace settle over you and turn the pain into loving memories of happy times spent together.

Remember the good times…

Cry if you will, but let them be tears of love not sorrow.

Just close your eyes for a moment and listen to this… and find the calm within

Secret Garden – Poeme

Lastly, a personal wish from me for all of the Team LFCT Mothers who care for not only their own children, but those of others as well, because every Little Fighter is like their own child.

These are the mothers who take the African proverb “It takes a village to raise a child” to heart, and practice it every day.

Thank You for being the great Mothers you are…
Thank You for being the Caring Souls you are…
Thank You for taking the time to make life better for others
Thank You for being YOU!

About LFCT

CHILDHOOD CANCER and CHILDHOOD CANCER AWARENESS Little Fighters Cancer Trust is a non-profit Childhood Cancer support organisation that offers support and aid to Children with Cancer and their families. When a child is diagnosed with cancer it affects the whole family. One of the parents, usually the mother, must give up their job to care for the child and this creates financial problems for the family. In South Africa especially the majority of these families are not well-to-do; many of them are rural. A diagnosis of cancer can wipe out any family’s finances, let alone a poor family. The costs of special medications, special diets, hospital stays, transport to and from the hospital or clinic and accommodation and food costs for the mother who spends most of the time at her child’s bedside are astronomical. These are the people and problems that fall through the cracks, and these are the people that Little Fighters Cancer Trust has pledged to help in any way possible. LFCT takes a holistic approach to assisting the Children with Cancer and their Families, with the main aim to be the preservation of individual dignity and pride. Little Fighters Cancer Trust also focuses on promotion and advocacy of National Childhood Cancer Awareness in an effort to increase awareness of Early Warning Signs of Childhood Cancer. This would result in earlier diagnosis, giving the Child with Cancer more of a chance at Treatment and Survival. See "About" for more Background info
