Climbing Kili for Cancer Kids Update: Liftoff!!
So, at around 7am Tanzanian Time (6am SA time),Team Kili had a very substantial breakfast that included lots of good strong Tanzanian coffee, and their final briefing. Final Physicals were also done, and Johan, after being asked whether he was nervous, to which he responded, err ja… I wonder why? 😉 finally passed his heart-rate test so all was good!
The Team then headed off for the Rongai Gate from which they would depart at 9am (10am SA time) with their guides, in warm and slightly overcast weather, and that is probably the last we will hear from them for at least two days, after which they will hopefully have signal again and be able to send photos and updates.
Team Kili asked that we pass on a message of thanks to their main guide and 2 senior guides who made their stay in Moshi really unforgettable.
Here are some more photos taken during their day-tripping around Moshi.
