Seven7 DRIVE for Kids with Cancer Update – Days 3 & 4

Our 3 intrepid travelers have been hitting the road hard over the past 2 days….

Yesterday they travelled from FRANCISTOWN (BOTSWANA) to CHIREDZI (ZIMBABWE) – approx. 577 km. Depart 6am and cross border to Zimbabwe. Drive to Chiredzi and the town’s clinic, to arrive approx. lunchtime. From there continue to Singita Pamushana Lodge, to arrive approx 4pm.

With almost 4000 km done, it was a long day of hectic traffic, pot-holes and road-blocks. Tomorrow we meet some more kids and head to Mozambique.”

Today they drove from CHIREDZI (ZIMBABWE) – INHAMBANE (MOZAMBIQUE) – approx. 850km Depart 5am and cross border to Mozambique, via Mutare and Machipanda border post. Continue east to Maxixe, then Inhamban and Island Rock campsite (TBC, depending on exactly location). Late afternoon continue to Inhambane hospital for visit.

“Maxixe in Mozambique, we are! Another 1000km day, including the last 100km in the dark – not a fun thing to do on a Sunday night in Moz! Thankfully the Lightforce LED venom Spotlights did a grand job. And a bonnet lunch, seven7 style… Biltong, breakfast cookies and coffee! Tomorrow we head to Swaziland…”

Tomorrow the team will drive from INHAMBANE (MOZAMBIQUE) to MANZINI (SWAZILAND) – approx. 680km

Depart 5am from Inhambane and Goba border crossing to Swaziland, continue to Manzini to arrive approx 2pm. Visit Manzini clinic or surrounds. Depart approx. 4pm for Mkhaya Nature Reserve. Arrive at camp at approx. 6pm.

We wish the guys happy travels and safe driving and look forward to hearing more and seeing more pics of their travels.

About LFCT

CHILDHOOD CANCER and CHILDHOOD CANCER AWARENESS Little Fighters Cancer Trust is a non-profit Childhood Cancer support organisation that offers support and aid to Children with Cancer and their families. When a child is diagnosed with cancer it affects the whole family. One of the parents, usually the mother, must give up their job to care for the child and this creates financial problems for the family. In South Africa especially the majority of these families are not well-to-do; many of them are rural. A diagnosis of cancer can wipe out any family’s finances, let alone a poor family. The costs of special medications, special diets, hospital stays, transport to and from the hospital or clinic and accommodation and food costs for the mother who spends most of the time at her child’s bedside are astronomical. These are the people and problems that fall through the cracks, and these are the people that Little Fighters Cancer Trust has pledged to help in any way possible. LFCT takes a holistic approach to assisting the Children with Cancer and their Families, with the main aim to be the preservation of individual dignity and pride. Little Fighters Cancer Trust also focuses on promotion and advocacy of National Childhood Cancer Awareness in an effort to increase awareness of Early Warning Signs of Childhood Cancer. This would result in earlier diagnosis, giving the Child with Cancer more of a chance at Treatment and Survival. See "About" for more Background info
