MASA Butterflies for Kids with Cancer – Top 50

Butterfly

 WOW!!! WOW!!! WOW!!!

Team Little Fighters Cancer Trust is absolutely thrilled, and so grateful to the Members of 1176157_528348470574429_1979293503_n copythe Mosaic Association of South Africa (MASA) for their overwhelming caring, compassion and generosity of time and spirit that they gave to the MASA Butterflies for Kids with Cancer Project in aid of the Little Fighters Cancer Trust.

The project ran from March this year and closed on 28th August, and although it seemed slow to start, these AMAZING people gave their all, creating butterflies themselves and roping in friends and family and even some schools – they had butterflies coming in from several areas across South Africa, from Swaziland, and even from Australia and New Zealand!

Where we thought we would get maybe 50 or 60 butterflies to brighten up the Paediatric Oncology Wards these wonderful souls have created a whopping 350 butterflies and counting…

Not only have they created a cornucopia of colour with which to brighten the wards in which our Little Fighters spend so much of their time fighting this horrible disease, but as each creation is accompanied by a R50 donation, they have also raised approximately R13 110* for the Little Fighters Cancer Trust! (*to be verified).

Again we say WOW!!! WOW!!! and WOW!!! and Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!

💖  💚  💛   Take a bow, Ladies and Gents, Boys and Girls – you did GOOD!   💖  💚  💛

The Top 50 butterflies have been chosen, out of which a Top 20 will be chosen. The Top 20 butterflies will be shipped to LFCT to be auctioned, raffled or sold at the Little Fighters Cancer Trust Gold Event to raise even more funding from this project.

All those who would like to help choose our Top 20 should do so by either clicking on a picture below then clicking through the gallery to see bigger images and the names or just hovering your cursor over the pic to see the name, or by visiting the MASA website; choose your favourite Top 3 butterflies and e-mail those names to info@mosaicassociation.co.za (VOTING CLOSES 12th SEPTEMBER 2015)

Please do yourself a favour and visit the MASA Website to see the other beautiful butterflies created for this project and all the other wonderful  mosaic artworks that these very talented artists have created.

Also, if you have nothing to do, or just love feasting your eyes on beautiful artistic creations, get yourself along to the THIS is Mosaic ART Exhibition running from 1-9 September.

About LFCT

This is a blog about CHILDHOOD CANCER and CHILDHOOD CANCER AWARENESS Little Fighters Cancer Trust is a non-profit organisation that offers support and aid to Children with Cancer and their families. When a child is diagnosed with cancer it affects the whole family. One of the parents, usually the mother, must give up their job to care for the child and this creates financial problems for the family. In South Africa especially the majority of these families are not well-to-do; many of them are rural. A diagnosis of cancer can wipe out any family’s finances, let alone a poor family. The costs of special medications, special diets, hospital stays, transport to and from the hospital or clinic and accommodation and food costs for the mother who spends most of the time at her child’s bedside are astronomical. These are the people and problems that fall through the cracks, and these are the people that Little Fighters Cancer Trust has pledged to help in any way possible. LFCT takes a holistic approach to assisting the Children with Cancer and their Families, with the main aim to be the preservation of individual dignity and pride. Little Fighters Cancer Trust also focuses on promotion and advocacy of National Childhood Cancer Awareness in an effort to increase awareness of Early Warning Signs of Childhood Cancer. This would result in earlier diagnosis, giving the Child with Cancer more of a chance at Treatment and Survival. See "About" for more Background info
