Hemp is Environmentally Friendly & Can Cure Cancer – So Why is it Illegal?

hemp+5sm

Although hemp (cannabis sativa) and marijuana (cannabis sativa var. indica) come from a similar species of plant, they are very different and confusion has been caused by deliberate misinformation with far-reaching effects on socio-economic as well as on environmental matters.

Hemp is environmentally friendly, nutritionally and medicinally beneficial,  and THAT, strangely enough, is the reason that it is illegal; it provides too many abundant resources which would make it impossible for powerful corporations to compete.

History of Hemp

Hemp is the most universally useful plant on earth, and mankind’s use of it can be traced way back in time – the Columbia History of the World (1996) states that weaving of hemp fibre began over 10,000 years ago! Carbon tests have suggested that the use of wild hemp dates as far back as 8000 B.C.

Remains of seed husks have been found at Neolithic burial sites in central Europe, showing that it had been used in funeral rites and shamanic ceremonies.

Dewey_in_Hemp_FieldHenry VIII encouraged farmers to plant the crop extensively to provide materials for the British Naval fleet during the 16th Century; Hemp fibre and oil was used for rigging, pendants, pennants, sails, and oakum and hemp paper was used for maps, logs, and for the sailors’ Bibles.

During the 17th Century, American farmers in Virginia, Massachusetts and Connecticut were compelled by law, under threat of being jailed if they did not, to grow Indian hemp.

Hemp was smeared and associated with marijuana around 1896 when competing industries feared it would be utilised to fuel to power motor vehicles, and the Marijuana Tax Act of 1937 made hemp cultivation nearly impossible for American farmers.

The government formed a private company called War Hemp Industries to subsidise hemp cultivation. One million acres of hemp were grown across the Midwest as part of this program. As soon as the war ended, however, all of the hemp processing plants were shut down and the industry again disappeared.

 Modern Uses for Hemp

Hemp is one of the most versatile plants, with some saying that it has around 50,000 uses.

Hemp can be utilised to eliminate smog from current fuels, create a cleaner energy source that can replace nuclear power, remove radioactive waste from the soil, and eliminate smog from our skies.

Hemp’s biomass can be converted into energy and could replace nuclear power and our current fossil fuels. Roads, highways and freeways from hemp based concrete, which lasts for centuries.

50 000_uses_for_hempCars can be made from hemp – a hemp car body can withstand a blow 10 times greater than steel without denting, weighs 450 kilograms less than steel, hence improving gas mileage, can run on a vegetable oil based natural hemp fuel, and has a completely biodegradable body.

Hemp production could eliminate deforestation by converting current paper to hemp paper which can be recycled up to 8 times whereas our current wood pulp is only recyclable up to 3 times.

Hemp has the strongest natural fibres, which can be used not just to produce rough cloth, such as sails or canvas, but also durable work clothes, like the original jeans. When the plants are grown closer together the fibre becomes shorter and finer, which allows for finer textiles.

The above are merely a few of the thousands of uses for hemp; and just by the way, 1 acre of hemp is said to produce more oxygen than 25 acres of current forest.

 Medical Uses for Hemp

hemp_seedsHemp seed is bursting with Omega-3 and Omega-6, essential fatty acids that have heart health and anti inflammatory benefits. Hemp seeds are nutty in flavour and are a great addition to desserts, yoghurt, salads, cereals, and breads. Hemp seeds can be turned into butter, milk, protein powder, finishing oil, and soap.

The protein and fibre in hemp combine to slow digestion, which prevents spikes in blood sugar, thereby sustaining your body’s energy. A diet rich in hemp promotes digestive regularity.

The Omega-3 fatty acids in hemp lower blood pressure, reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, and may ward off Alzheimer’s disease.

Omega-6 fatty acids in hemp maintain bone health, regulate metabolism, stimulate skin and hair growth, and help the brain function.

The essential amino acids in hemp improve mental function, muscle control, and normal body maintenance of cells, muscle, tissues, and organs.

Hemp for Cancer

While there is no scientific evidence that says hemp oil definitely can cure cancer, hemp oil does provide the body with certain benefits that may help the body recover from cancer.

Hemp shares many of the properties of marijuana, namely the existence of certain chemical compounds called cannabinoids, including cannabidiol (CBD) but with minimal tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) which is what gives one a “high.”

While no Medical Council has ever approved it, many Cancer Survivors will swear by hemp oil as  cure for cancer.

ths-ecs-for-ths2-1024x753It is believed that hemp oil filters through the endocannabinoid system which is the regulatory system for the human body, and is fundamentally responsible for homeostasis in the body’s other systems. One of the reasons the cannabinoid system exists is to receive cannabinoids produced inside the body called “Anandamide” and 2-Arachidonoylglycerol. Stimulating the Endogenous Cannabinoid System with plant-based cannabinoids may restore balance to the body. When all of the system’s in the human body are working well and working together, the body is better equipped to deal with sickness in the body.

Hemp oil is ingested and passes through the digestive system. Through this process the oil is absorbed into the body as a nutrient. The ingested oil helps your body stay balanced. Since cancer and many diseases are considered an imbalance in the body, restoring balance to the body, can help the body fight cancer.

The most well-known of proponents of the use of cannabis/hemp oil as medicine is Rick Simpson, who discovered how to process the oil (and made this knowledge public), which is also known as Phoenix Tears.

Quote from Nature’s Answer For Cancer – by Rick Simpson

How did you come to discover how to cure cancer and many other illnesses with hemp?

“I consider myself just one of many who have found a way to cure cancer and I certainly was not the first one to produce an essential oil from the hemp plant. A radio broadcast told me that THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) kills cancer cells way back in the 1970s, so I do not claim that it was me who found the cure. Still, it does appear that I am the first to supply this medication to vast numbers of patients to treat their cancers and other conditions in a more effective and sensible way.

In addition, I continued to report my findings openly to the general public after the government and all they control turned their backs on this issue. Since this plant has been used in medicine for thousands of years, I really do not think that anyone can make the claim that they alone discovered its true medical values.

The only thing that I can really claim is that I discovered the proper way to produce and use this substance and I developed and published a protocol to make it more simple for patients to enjoy its use. As often as I could, I provided the medicine free of charge and I openly reported my findings to anyone who would listen, expecting that sooner or later someone would do something about it.”

SO, with so many advantages of and uses for hemp, we once again need to ask: “Why is Hemp Illegal?

The only sane conclusion one can readily come to is that it is only illegal because the big oil, pharmaceutical, supplement and construction industry corporations that control the world’s finances wants it to be – if it ever became legal they would become bankrupt!!

About LFCT

This is a blog about CHILDHOOD CANCER and CHILDHOOD CANCER AWARENESS Little Fighters Cancer Trust is a non-profit organisation that offers support and aid to Children with Cancer and their families. When a child is diagnosed with cancer it affects the whole family. One of the parents, usually the mother, must give up their job to care for the child and this creates financial problems for the family. In South Africa especially the majority of these families are not well-to-do; many of them are rural. A diagnosis of cancer can wipe out any family’s finances, let alone a poor family. The costs of special medications, special diets, hospital stays, transport to and from the hospital or clinic and accommodation and food costs for the mother who spends most of the time at her child’s bedside are astronomical. These are the people and problems that fall through the cracks, and these are the people that Little Fighters Cancer Trust has pledged to help in any way possible. LFCT takes a holistic approach to assisting the Children with Cancer and their Families, with the main aim to be the preservation of individual dignity and pride. Little Fighters Cancer Trust also focuses on promotion and advocacy of National Childhood Cancer Awareness in an effort to increase awareness of Early Warning Signs of Childhood Cancer. This would result in earlier diagnosis, giving the Child with Cancer more of a chance at Treatment and Survival. See "About" for more Background info
