Donations Urgently Required for Feeding Our Families Project

shopping trolleyJanuary is always a difficult month financially, and for the Little Fighters Cancer Trust it is no different because we basically deplete all our funds and stocks during the month of December for our Christmas Elf Project and our Festive Season Food Hampers that we provide for our Children with Cancer and their families.

In excess of 50% of the individual Childhood Cancer-affected families that are supported by the Little Fighters Cancer Trust have lost one income due to the child’s diagnosis. Children with Cancer have to follow a nutritionally specific diet, which is often impossible for families to follow due to lack of funds.

With one parent in the hospital for months, sometimes years on end, the sole breadwinner struggles to make ends meet at home. The Little Fighters Cancer Trust ensures that these families have food in the home while the Child with Cancer is in and out of hospital via our Feeding Our Families project.

We need YOUR help to put food on the table for many of our ‪‎Little Fighters‬ and their Families who are really struggling. Donations can be made in the form of product or financial help.

You can find a list of what we need on our WISHLIST under our Little Fighters Cancer Trust PANTRY Project.

Alternatively please contact:, or

for a list of non-perishables required. They will also be able to supply you with drop-off points in Cape Town, Johannesburg, Durban and Port Elizabeth.

foodIf you do not live in any of these areas, but would like to help, perhaps you could get your business, school, sports club or church to do a non-perishable food collection for our Little Fighters.

Should the volume collected warrant a special collection, please let us know via one of the above e-mail addresses and we will make arrangements to collect.

LFCT tops up all deliveries of non perishables with fresh products as often as we are able. Perishables can only be purchased on the day of the delivery, so we also need funds to make these purchases.

About LFCT

CHILDHOOD CANCER and CHILDHOOD CANCER AWARENESS Little Fighters Cancer Trust is a non-profit Childhood Cancer support organisation that offers support and aid to Children with Cancer and their families. When a child is diagnosed with cancer it affects the whole family. One of the parents, usually the mother, must give up their job to care for the child and this creates financial problems for the family. In South Africa especially the majority of these families are not well-to-do; many of them are rural. A diagnosis of cancer can wipe out any family’s finances, let alone a poor family. The costs of special medications, special diets, hospital stays, transport to and from the hospital or clinic and accommodation and food costs for the mother who spends most of the time at her child’s bedside are astronomical. These are the people and problems that fall through the cracks, and these are the people that Little Fighters Cancer Trust has pledged to help in any way possible. LFCT takes a holistic approach to assisting the Children with Cancer and their Families, with the main aim to be the preservation of individual dignity and pride. Little Fighters Cancer Trust also focuses on promotion and advocacy of National Childhood Cancer Awareness in an effort to increase awareness of Early Warning Signs of Childhood Cancer. This would result in earlier diagnosis, giving the Child with Cancer more of a chance at Treatment and Survival. See "About" for more Background info
