Michael Bublé’s 3-Year-Old Son Noah Battling Childhood Cancer

michael-buble-with-noah-who-has-just-turned-threeMichael Bublé’s 3-year-old son Noah was diagnosed with liver cancer last month, and already he’s undergoing intense chemotherapy treatment that is set to continue for four months.

Mom Lusisana took Noah to the Otamendi Miroli Hospital in Buenos Aires in November because he had a high fever.

After an exhaustive examination, doctors ruled out mumps and suggested two possibilities, a throat infection or mononucleosis. To rule out the second possibility they had to carry out a battery of tests which included an abdominal ultrasound.

On October 27, after a throat swab, they confirmed he had a throat infection and not mononucleosis but the ultrasound had detected a liver problem. The doctors told Luisana that Noah had a stain on his liver which did not have different tones so it was probably benign, but that they had to perform more tests.

Seeking a second opinion, Luisana flew to the States on October 29 with their nine-month-old son Elias and her parents. On November 1 they were given the devastating cancer diagnosis and told that that Noah would need chemotherapy and the possibility of surgery afterwards to remove the tumour – but that his chances of beating it were 90%.

Michael and his wife confirmed the news themselves via the singer’s Facebook page.

We are devastated about the recent cancer diagnosis of our oldest son Noah who is currently undergoing treatment in the U.S.,” they said in a statement.

We have always been very vocal about the importance of family and the love we have for our children… Luisana and I have put our careers on hold in order to devote all our time and attention to helping Noah get well.

This is the touching moment Michael Bublé sang a duet with his son Noah. The Canadian crooner pulled his then two-year old son up on stage with him at a special New Years Eve show in New York, delighting fans.

Noah is undergoing chemotherapy in an effort to shrink his tumour. Unfortunately chemotherapy alone apparently is not enough to help him beat this terrible disease, and he is scheduled to have surgery around the end of December if his chemotherapy goes according to plan.

Doctors are hoping Noah’s tumour will be small enough to operate on by the time that surgery rolls around. Noah’s doctors will reportedly perform a biopsy before the operation and may continue to give Noah chemotherapy after the operation as well.

Cancer is a horrible illness but we have faith in Noah being able to overcome this,” said Luisana’s older sister Daniela at the time of his diagnosis. “We know he will. The time to start a long and very difficult treatment has come but it’s got to be done… They say children are normally strong to put up with chemotherapy, and my nephew is a warrior.”

Team LFCT’s thoughts are with the entire Bublé family during this difficult time and wish them all Love, Light & Strength.

About LFCT

This is a blog about CHILDHOOD CANCER and CHILDHOOD CANCER AWARENESS Little Fighters Cancer Trust is a non-profit organisation that offers support and aid to Children with Cancer and their families. When a child is diagnosed with cancer it affects the whole family. One of the parents, usually the mother, must give up their job to care for the child and this creates financial problems for the family. In South Africa especially the majority of these families are not well-to-do; many of them are rural. A diagnosis of cancer can wipe out any family’s finances, let alone a poor family. The costs of special medications, special diets, hospital stays, transport to and from the hospital or clinic and accommodation and food costs for the mother who spends most of the time at her child’s bedside are astronomical. These are the people and problems that fall through the cracks, and these are the people that Little Fighters Cancer Trust has pledged to help in any way possible. LFCT takes a holistic approach to assisting the Children with Cancer and their Families, with the main aim to be the preservation of individual dignity and pride. Little Fighters Cancer Trust also focuses on promotion and advocacy of National Childhood Cancer Awareness in an effort to increase awareness of Early Warning Signs of Childhood Cancer. This would result in earlier diagnosis, giving the Child with Cancer more of a chance at Treatment and Survival. See "About" for more Background info
