Wishlist Wednesday: Get WRAPPED Blanket Drive

So, it is Wishlist Wednesday again and we are continuing with our wish for  a massive donation of warm snuggly blankets for our Children with Cancer for our annual Get WRAPPED Project which in now in its 5th year!

Winter is HERE, people, and the nights are freezing – soon the days will be freezing cold too, what with the storm and snow season starting, so we need to get these blankies out to our Little Fighters as soon as possible.

Please help us to reach our target of 2 500 blankets this year – there will be many grateful smiles to say thank you, we promise!

There are many stores who currently have blanket specials on, especially for Polar Fleece blankets for as little as around R45, so when next you pop into Pick n Pay, Pep Stores, Game, etc. please pick up a blankie or two for our Little Fighters and their hospital bedside carer.

The Little Fighters Cancer Trust asks for donations of new, preferably soft (for the children’s sensitive skins due to some of the treatment regimens) single bed blankets to keep our Little Fighters warm.

Only new blankets are accepted due to the compromised immune systems of our Little Fighters.

We would like to thank Dis-Chem Pharmacies who have donated 250 blankets toward the Little Fighters Cancer Trust’s Get WRAPPED Project!

💞 💞 💞 THANK YOU DISCHEM! 💞 💞 💞

We would also like to send out a huge thank you to Toddler and Tween of the World -South Africa Finalist, Warda Gezwind, who  is working very hard at her Get WRAPPED Blanket Drive in her home town of Stellenbosch.

Warda is collecting new, warm blankets which we will distribute to Children with Cancer and their bedside care-givers / Families, all over South Africa. Warda, you are a shining example to many!

If you would like to help Warda, you can do so by contacting her Mommy on 073 210 6693 to arrange dropping off  YOUR #GetWrapped blankies! Warda’s collection is running until June 15th, and we will collect directly from her, right after her cut-off date!

💞 💞 💞 A HUGE THANK YOU, Warda, for taking the initiative! 💞 💞 💞

About LFCT

This is a blog about CHILDHOOD CANCER and CHILDHOOD CANCER AWARENESS Little Fighters Cancer Trust is a non-profit organisation that offers support and aid to Children with Cancer and their families. When a child is diagnosed with cancer it affects the whole family. One of the parents, usually the mother, must give up their job to care for the child and this creates financial problems for the family. In South Africa especially the majority of these families are not well-to-do; many of them are rural. A diagnosis of cancer can wipe out any family’s finances, let alone a poor family. The costs of special medications, special diets, hospital stays, transport to and from the hospital or clinic and accommodation and food costs for the mother who spends most of the time at her child’s bedside are astronomical. These are the people and problems that fall through the cracks, and these are the people that Little Fighters Cancer Trust has pledged to help in any way possible. LFCT takes a holistic approach to assisting the Children with Cancer and their Families, with the main aim to be the preservation of individual dignity and pride. Little Fighters Cancer Trust also focuses on promotion and advocacy of National Childhood Cancer Awareness in an effort to increase awareness of Early Warning Signs of Childhood Cancer. This would result in earlier diagnosis, giving the Child with Cancer more of a chance at Treatment and Survival. See "About" for more Background info
