Our New Office & Pre-Loved Charity Shoppe

I was unfortunately unable to go through to Paarl in the week of the 15th to help with the massive job of packing and moving premises as I was indisposed – thankfully the Little Fighters Trust is fortunate enough to have some wonderful supporters that arrived in spades to help.

Last Friday I went through for a meeting and I was astounded at how much had already been sorted out and how great the new premises looked. I really have to take my hat off to all the helpers, but most of all to Team LFCT – all 3 of the ladies who run the office and the shop – the place looks STUNNING!!!!

While a paint job on the outside is called for, that will have to wait until their is time and the funds for the paint. The signage will be put up this week and I know Mandie will post pics of that, but in the meantime here are some photos I took after our meeting.

The Team

It is amazing how many people think that because the Little Fighters Cancer Trust do so much (with so little) and because we do what we do Nationally, that we have huge premises and that there is a massive team behind it all. Well, LFCT only has THREE staff-members – all at HQ/LFCT Pre-Loved Charity Shoppe….

As anyone who has ever worked in an NGO/NPO knows, job-descriptions do not really exist in this world as there is never sufficient funding to employ all the staff needed, so everyone has a few main tasks and then jumps in wherever they are most needed at the time to get things done in time…..

As I said, the shop/office is looking stunning in under a week, and although there is still loads to be done and sorted, that will happen over time as the shelving arrives etc.

Let it also be known that this is the first time that there is sufficient space for everything and the first time that poor Mandie actually has an office that looks like an office and not a store-room, in which she can work without tripping over boxes and having clothing all over her desk. Well done, Mandie – you DESERVE it!!

I am really impressed though, at the organisation, innovation, range of stock in the shop, and the FANTASTICALLY CHEAP PRICES!!!

There is something for everyone in the shop – from beanies to shirts, shoes, bibs, baby-grows, dresses, foot spas, books, crockery, crafting goodies, cutlery, sporting goods, gym equipment, cycling equipment, bicycle tyres, music, cuddly toys, collectibles, games, and much, much more.

If you are in the Paarl area, do yourself a favour and pop in to our Pre-Loved Charity Shoppe @ 15 Castle/Kasteel Street – BARGAINS GALORE!!!

Not only is the shop itself looking good, stocked and open for business (On Monday already – 2 days after the move), but although there is still loads to do in between continuing all other business-as-usual, the hallway, offices etc. are also looking great – bar the Little Fighters & Family’s donations which are awaiting shelving (hopefully this week) so that they too can be sorted and packed out to facilitate easy packing for deliveries.

I would just personally like to say, Well DONE, Ladies – Here’s wishing you all many happy years of working in your great new premises – Go Forth & Serve!

Please remember that we are always  in need of stock for the LFCT Pre-Loved Charity Shoppe, so if you are sorting out your wardrobes, linen-closet, kitchen cabinets, workshop, under the bed or on top of the cupboards, please consider donating your gently pre-loved goodies to us.

Please note that 100% of the proceeds from the LFCT Pre-Loved Charity Shoppe goes towards supporting our Little Fighters and their Families.

About LFCT

CHILDHOOD CANCER and CHILDHOOD CANCER AWARENESS Little Fighters Cancer Trust is a non-profit Childhood Cancer support organisation that offers support and aid to Children with Cancer and their families. When a child is diagnosed with cancer it affects the whole family. One of the parents, usually the mother, must give up their job to care for the child and this creates financial problems for the family. In South Africa especially the majority of these families are not well-to-do; many of them are rural. A diagnosis of cancer can wipe out any family’s finances, let alone a poor family. The costs of special medications, special diets, hospital stays, transport to and from the hospital or clinic and accommodation and food costs for the mother who spends most of the time at her child’s bedside are astronomical. These are the people and problems that fall through the cracks, and these are the people that Little Fighters Cancer Trust has pledged to help in any way possible. LFCT takes a holistic approach to assisting the Children with Cancer and their Families, with the main aim to be the preservation of individual dignity and pride. Little Fighters Cancer Trust also focuses on promotion and advocacy of National Childhood Cancer Awareness in an effort to increase awareness of Early Warning Signs of Childhood Cancer. This would result in earlier diagnosis, giving the Child with Cancer more of a chance at Treatment and Survival. See "About" for more Background info
