✨Thankful Thursday ✨ Blankies & PIZZA

It is ✨Thankful Thursday ✨ and once again we have SO much to be thankful for that our hearts are brimming over with gratitude 🙏 🙏 🙏

Team LFCT would firstly like to thank ALL of our WONDERFUL supporters for all your donations – without YOU we could do NONE of this.

It is for this reason that we love to show you all where your donations go, so that you can see the smiles and gratitude with which everything is received. These Little Fighters and their Families generally have little to no resources and depend on what LFCT can do for them to help them get through this incredibly tough time.

Please be assured that even though we can often not show you photos of the children themselves due to hospital privacy policies or due to some other legitimate reason, their beautiful little smiles put a ray of sunshine into our hearts and from ours hopefully to yours! 🌞

As you all know, we have been very busy collecting warm, soft, snuggly blankets as part of our 2017 Get Wrapped Project over the past few months, and last Thursday we made deliveries to some very grateful Little Fighters and their Bedside Caregivers in 2 hospitals in Cape Town.

Tygerberg Hospital

We delivered lovely, warm blankets to G3 (Paediatric Oncology Ward) at Tygerberg Hospital on Thursday morning.

These blankets were hand made by Blanket Angels, a project that creates employment for Women through making these, and other products. THANK YOU, Blanket Angels 🙏

We spent a bit of time with the Children, Mommies and Staff, who were all delighted by the gifting. We even got to play a bit of peekaboo with a Little Fighter who was in an awesomely playful mood😁

Red Cross Children’s Hospital

We also delivered warm and fluffy blankets to the Red Cross G1 (Pediatric Oncology Ward) Thursday morning. Every child and every parent was gifted with some LFCT warmth and love!

As the Ward itself was under lock-down due to a virus and no outsiders were permitted entry, we handed over the mountains of blankets to the Staff who did the gifting in the Ward. We also got to share some smiles in the outpatient clinic.

We would like to extend a HUGE THANK YOU to McCarthy Toyota Paarl for being our chariot and sponsoring a vehicle and a driver for Thursday’s deliveries. (As you may know, Mandie is legally blind and not allowed to drive, so this was a massive help.) THANK YOU, McCarthy Toyota Paarl 🙏

🙏THANK YOU again to every Individual LFCT Supporter who donated blankets. This is what we do with your Generosity!🙏

Pizza Parties Port Elizabeth

While Mandie & co were delivering blankies in Cape Town on Thursday, our LFCT Mother-Daughter Team Ambassadors in Port Elizabeth delivered a mouthwatering treat to PE Provincial and St George’s Hospitals.

LFCT was nominated by our Facebook Supporters to be a beneficiary of a Romans Pizza Mandela Day Pizza Give-Away. We were able deliver FORTY delicious, warm and nom-nom-nom pizzas in PE, so all the Little Fighters, Mommies and Staff were spoiled!

Over the next two weeks, we will host 🍕Pizza Parties🍕 in 10 more Paediatric Oncology Hospital Wards country wide compliments of Romans Pizza!!

THANK YOU  to all our Supporters who nominated LFCT & THANK YOU, Romans Pizza 🙏

About LFCT

This is a blog about CHILDHOOD CANCER and CHILDHOOD CANCER AWARENESS Little Fighters Cancer Trust is a non-profit organisation that offers support and aid to Children with Cancer and their families. When a child is diagnosed with cancer it affects the whole family. One of the parents, usually the mother, must give up their job to care for the child and this creates financial problems for the family. In South Africa especially the majority of these families are not well-to-do; many of them are rural. A diagnosis of cancer can wipe out any family’s finances, let alone a poor family. The costs of special medications, special diets, hospital stays, transport to and from the hospital or clinic and accommodation and food costs for the mother who spends most of the time at her child’s bedside are astronomical. These are the people and problems that fall through the cracks, and these are the people that Little Fighters Cancer Trust has pledged to help in any way possible. LFCT takes a holistic approach to assisting the Children with Cancer and their Families, with the main aim to be the preservation of individual dignity and pride. Little Fighters Cancer Trust also focuses on promotion and advocacy of National Childhood Cancer Awareness in an effort to increase awareness of Early Warning Signs of Childhood Cancer. This would result in earlier diagnosis, giving the Child with Cancer more of a chance at Treatment and Survival. See "About" for more Background info
