Thank You❣️ Harcourts Winelands 🙏

A few weeks ago the Little Fighters Cancer Trust was contacted by Hettie Denysschen from Harcourts Winelands, who had found out about the work that we do with Children with Cancer and their Families via social media, and had selected LFCT as a beneficiary.

We spoke a few times over the following weeks and the more Hettie found out about us the more Harcourts was committed to helping, which we of course were very happy about as it has been a very long and hard year and we are always in need of funding so that we can better serve our beneficiaries.

This culminated in an invitation to attend the Harcourts/Optimum Charity Golf Day Dinner on Friday night at the beautiful Pearl Valley Golf Course… and of course Lizelma and I accepted with alacrity.

I arrived a bit earlier as requested, as they wanted to do an interview with me about the work that LFCT does, but thanks to a later start and some hectic wind, the day was running slightly long… not that I minded, as this gave me pause to just sit outside in the sun and enjoy the wonderful nature vista and absolute peace and quiet for a bit… far from the madding crowd…

I must admit though, that as I had been at a workshop all day I was rather knackered and very nearly dozed off… 😴

The evening was wonderful though, with a delightful butter chicken curry, some nice wine, good company and an MC that kept everyone wide awake and in fits of laughter… Prizes were handed out for those who played well on the day and various items were auctioned to raise funds – and let me tell you, bids were really great!

I would REALLY have loved to have been able to bid on that Glenfiddich though! 😀

The Little Fighters Cancer Trust would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to Harcourts Winelands Director Eberhard Kruger, Hettie Denysschen, Mercedes Granda, Optimum and everyone who sponsored goods as well as everyone who attended and made for such a fun evening!

Once again, please forgive me for my errr… let’s just say rather exuberant and passionate “Thank You” upon receipt of THIS wonderful donation from Harcourts 😉

THANK YOU Harcourts from the bottom of our hearts on behalf of our beneficiaries who will greatly benefit from your most generous donation.

Dankie Hettie dat jy ons organisasie gekies het en ons hoop ook, soos ons bespreek het, dat die Little Fighters Cancer Trust en Harcourts nog lank ‘n vennootskap sal geniet.

About LFCT

CHILDHOOD CANCER and CHILDHOOD CANCER AWARENESS Little Fighters Cancer Trust is a non-profit Childhood Cancer support organisation that offers support and aid to Children with Cancer and their families. When a child is diagnosed with cancer it affects the whole family. One of the parents, usually the mother, must give up their job to care for the child and this creates financial problems for the family. In South Africa especially the majority of these families are not well-to-do; many of them are rural. A diagnosis of cancer can wipe out any family’s finances, let alone a poor family. The costs of special medications, special diets, hospital stays, transport to and from the hospital or clinic and accommodation and food costs for the mother who spends most of the time at her child’s bedside are astronomical. These are the people and problems that fall through the cracks, and these are the people that Little Fighters Cancer Trust has pledged to help in any way possible. LFCT takes a holistic approach to assisting the Children with Cancer and their Families, with the main aim to be the preservation of individual dignity and pride. Little Fighters Cancer Trust also focuses on promotion and advocacy of National Childhood Cancer Awareness in an effort to increase awareness of Early Warning Signs of Childhood Cancer. This would result in earlier diagnosis, giving the Child with Cancer more of a chance at Treatment and Survival. See "About" for more Background info
