Lions/LFCT 2018 🎄Christmas Party🎅

The Little Fighters Cancer Trust would like to give a massive shout-out to the Lions Club of Paarl who sponsored and organised a wonderful Christmas Party for our local Beneficiaries and their Families this past Sunday.

LFCT organised two tour “bussies” to collect our Families and deliver them safely back to their homes again after the party – thanks to our great drivers from Ruiters Tours & Shuttle Services.

LFCT would like to send out a hearty thank you to all the Lions and volunteers who put in all the hard work of organising the party and being there on the day to ensure that everyone had a great time!

Thank You, you really made our beneficiaries and their siblings feel loved and spoiled and gave their parents a few hours of relaxation and enjoyment as well, and that is what it is all about; looking out for the whole family.

Thanks also go out to The Drop Outs Motorcycle Club who came on board with some wonderful presents for our Little Fighters.

There was finger painting, face-painting, two jumping castles, a trip in a riot vehicle, balloons, pancakes, sweeties, cold drinks, fruit, burgers and chips, ices, cupcakes, and lucky packets to take home as well as a wonderful Father Christmas handing out presents  (which is what Christmas is all about for children as we all know) and Christmas Crackers to all of the children and a great young magician who kept all the kids (and most of the adults) enthralled with his sleight of hand.

All in all, as can be seen from the photos below, a great time was had by everyone

I must say, for me personally the highlight of the day was meeting all of our beneficiaries and their families as, although I have been working with some of them quite closely for the past year via e-mail, sms, whatsapp, facebook etc. and have been writing about others for a few years already, I rarely get the opportunity to meet them.

One does not need to meet these wonderful Little Fighters and their Families in order to understand and empathise with what they are going through, especially as I am a Survivor of 21 years myself, but meeting these people with whom I have such a strong Spiritual bond and to see the kids running around and just having fun for a bit without a care in the world and parents just relaxing for a bit – not constantly thinking about or dealing with the horrible cancer that has taken over their lives – was something I will really always cherish.

Thank You to all the Lions, to our Father Christmas, to our Face Painter, to our Magician, to the SWAT Guys, to the Bikers, to our Drivers and all other support guys and gals for making this day possible.

❣️❣️ Thank You LIONS PAARL – you guys/gals ROCK ❣️❣️

About LFCT

CHILDHOOD CANCER and CHILDHOOD CANCER AWARENESS Little Fighters Cancer Trust is a non-profit Childhood Cancer support organisation that offers support and aid to Children with Cancer and their families. When a child is diagnosed with cancer it affects the whole family. One of the parents, usually the mother, must give up their job to care for the child and this creates financial problems for the family. In South Africa especially the majority of these families are not well-to-do; many of them are rural. A diagnosis of cancer can wipe out any family’s finances, let alone a poor family. The costs of special medications, special diets, hospital stays, transport to and from the hospital or clinic and accommodation and food costs for the mother who spends most of the time at her child’s bedside are astronomical. These are the people and problems that fall through the cracks, and these are the people that Little Fighters Cancer Trust has pledged to help in any way possible. LFCT takes a holistic approach to assisting the Children with Cancer and their Families, with the main aim to be the preservation of individual dignity and pride. Little Fighters Cancer Trust also focuses on promotion and advocacy of National Childhood Cancer Awareness in an effort to increase awareness of Early Warning Signs of Childhood Cancer. This would result in earlier diagnosis, giving the Child with Cancer more of a chance at Treatment and Survival. See "About" for more Background info
