These people have shown that they have Hearts of GOLD by their unsolicited, unselfish deeds in helping Little Fighters Cancer Trust do what we do! Thank you ALL

✨Thankful Thursday✨ Garth Taylor

Garth Taylor is considered a pioneer of the South African music industry; he is also a  self-taught SAMA nominated artist, and is most renowned for being a chart topping singer-songwriter and recording artist.

What few people know though, is that Garth is also a fitness fanatic whose second passion is kickboxing (he won the SA Amateur Kickboxing Champion in the Lightweight Category in 2014).

On Friday 15 September Garth entered the White Collar Boxing ring for the second time on behalf of the Little Fighters Cancer Trust.

Garth competed in the White Collar Boxing 19 event at Scarlet Ribbon in Modderfontein, in an effort to raise Childhood Cancer Awareness as well as to raise funds for the Little Fighters Cancer Trust.  White Collar boxing is essentially recreational and uses the sport as a means of personal development for people to push themselves and achieve individual objectives.

With many of our Little Fighters sending Garth video messages of encouragement, he could do nothing other than repeat his stellar performance of last year, and once again win his match – to the delight of all our Little Fighters! Congratulations, Garth, you are a real Warrior for our Little Fighters!!

A shout-out also goes to Andrew Savvides, Garth’s opponent for the great Fight and for his Support for Garth’s cause!

Little Fighters Cancer Trust established the Little Fighters Cancer Trust Heart of GOLD Medal awards recently to acknowledge and thank individuals who have shown that they have Hearts of GOLD by their unsolicited, unselfish deeds in helping Little Fighters Cancer Trust do what we do!

This month is it our absolute privilege and HONOUR to bestow this award on a group of people who really went above and beyond to put some smiles on the face of our Little Fighters and some coins in the coffers of the Little Fighters Cancer Trust at the same time; the Members of the   Mosaic Association of South Africa (MASA) and all their friends, family and other helpers who made the Butterflies for Kids with Cancerproject so successful.

masa heart of gold awardEvery year MASA selects a beneficiary or cause to support with mosaics to brighten their environment but also as a means to raise funds. Association members are requested to create a themed mosaic for this purpose. Previous projects can be viewed HERE.

Little Fighters Cancer Trust was thrilled to be chosen as the Mosaic Association of South Africa’s 2015 beneficiary, via the “Butterflies for Kids with Cancer” Project .

The 2015 Butterflies for Kids with Cancer project invited MASA members as well as their friends, family and supporters across South Africa to create either a 20 x 20cm wood base or a wood cut-out of a butterfly, mosaiced in bright, cheerful colours. Each participant over the age of 18 would also make a cash donation of R50. All the donations would be paid over directly to LFCT.

This month is it our absolute HONOUR to bestow this award on Francois ‘Faf’ Naude.

Francois “Faf” Naude is a 21-year-old student from Potchefstroom who is currently studying towards a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering.

Francois is also an enthusiastic  athlete who loves taking part in road-running, road-cycling and triathlons. Francois has a passion for exercise and endurance sport, as well as a passion for helping those affected by various severely incapacitating social circumstances.

Francois decided to combine these two passions to benefit those who find themselves in less than great social circumstances. With this in mind, Francois approached the Little Fighters Cancer Trust to partner with them in raising funds for Children with Cancer and their Families.

To this end Francois started United Challenge,  a charity that seeks to establish a community platform where individuals or organisations can unite to bring about change in a world which is in dire need of ordinary individuals that are willing to do extraordinary things for various causes, projects and movements.

Hearts of Gold

heart13

Little Fighters Cancer Trust is a small team of 3, and could never survive or do what we do without all our Volunteers and Ambassadors, who tirelessly give of their time, effort and very often money as well, to make the lives of our Little Fighters and their families just a bit better.

Today, however, there is another group of people who the Little Fighters Cancer Trust would like to thank from the bottom of our hearts. These are not employees, ambassadors or even volunteers, but souls with hearts of gold that have gone above and beyond to help.

We here at Little Fighters Cancer Trust believe that these souls deserve a special mention, and will therefore be awarding the Little Fighters Cancer Trust Heart of Gold Medal to various individuals every now and again as a sign of our deep appreciation.
