Christmas 2014

Christmas 2014 Christmas Elf Project is going to be even bigger than 2013’s was, with a projected 1 065 children this year.

Our little elves have already been very busy collecting donations and doing Christmas Shopping, and the first parcels are already on their way upcountry ready for delivery…

On December 11th, Christmas came early for all our Little Fighters at Red Cross Hospital’s Pediatric Oncology Ward, Day-room, as well as the Outpatients Clinic when we did the 2014 Christmas Elf Project  deliveries.

Little Fighters Cancer Trust ChildCancerActionist and Swim for Hope Pioneer, Carina Bruwer, joined us for a very special morning.

We made our Christmas Elf Project  deliveries to St Joseph’s Home Oncology Kids on Tuesday morning. All of  our Little Fighters got beautiful gifts and we also added some more Festive Cheer with 10 plastic scooters, games, crafts and more, to keep the ward busy and festive through the December holidays!

Great fun was had by all, and everyone LOVED their gifts and snack packs!

And so the deliveries of the 2014 Christmas Elf Project kicked off this week with the first deliveries being done to the Little Fighters at Tygerberg Hospital in the Western Cape. Tygerberg Hospital is the first of 14 hospitals that Little Fighters Cancer Trust will do deliveries of some Christmas Cheer to this year…

Christmas 2013

Christmas 2013 saw Little Fighters Cancer Trust help make Christmas great for 600 onco children. Teams all over the country delivered presents and food parcels, and were repaid with the best gift of all – the smile of a child…

60 pediatric oncology patients at Red Cross G1 Ward, Outpatients Clinic, ICU, D1 and B1 received Christmas gifts, crackers, Christmas hats and snack packs. Thank you to everyone who had a part in making this possible. Media24, Good Hope FM, Protea Heights Daycare, Sarmie Mommiez, your contributions were put to very good use today.

All the wards as well as outpatients and day patients, ICU and Isolation patients at Tygerberg Hospital Pediatric Oncology received their Christmas Elf packages today.

Little Fighters Cancer Trust hosted our annual Christmas Party for Oncology Patients at St Joseph’s Home this past Saturday.

SO much fun was had by all! Jumping castle, face painting, MMA demonstration, hot rod cars, lunch, snacks, games, toy corner, delicious cupcakes…have a look at the photographs for more:-)

This morning, 80 children at Universitas Haematology and Oncology in Bloemfontein, under Prof Stones, received Little Fighters Cancer Trust Christmas Elf Christmas packages!

THANK YOU to Cynthia and Michelle, out two awesome Elves for all their hard work and time. Thank you as well to the Bloemfontein VOLVO branch Staff for the Snack packs donations! Media 24 and Good Hope FM for the gifts and KARGO for playing Santa’s Sleigh!

THANK YOU to Cathy ad Chris for handling the PE Christmas Elf Deliveries fr Little Fighters Cancer Trust!

Message from Cathy:

“This morning Chris and I did the Little Fighters Cancer Trust Christmas Elf deliveries to the Oncology patients at St Georges and Dora Nginza Hospitals. Each child was given a gift, a Christmas hat, a cracker and a snack pack. It was lovely to be able to bring some joy to the kids. We will go back to the hospitals next week to deliver to the kids that weren’t there today. Thank you Little Fighters Cancer Trust, and Siobhan Larkin Broekman (who organised the snack packs) – for bringing joy to PE’s Onco kids 🙂 ”

2nd Round, PE Christmas Elf Project Delivery!

THANK YOU to Cathy, Chris and Siobhan Larkin Broekman for handling the PE Christmas Elf Deliveries for Little Fighters Cancer Trust!

They did a second round of deliveries on December 17th, and will do another round next week, ensuring that as many as possible Port Elizabeth Oncology Children receive a bit of Little Fighters Cancer Trust Christmas Elf Joy!

Thank you SO much to all involved, and of course, to Santa’s Sleigh, KARGO, for taking the load to Port Elizabeth from Paarl, completely free of charge!

We visited Joburg Gen on Tuesday – unfortunately due to hospital regulations, we were not allowed to take any photos of the children. But fun was had by all! Thank you LFCT Elf, Michelle for coming along & helping us with our delivery! It is much appreciated!

We arrived at Unitas this morning, with a lot of the children having been sent home – yaaaay , but those that remained were spoilt, as the smiles will tell!

Great fun was had at Steve Biko today! The children were really excited, running around and showing off all the wonderful things Judy has done to their oncology ward! Best news for the day… two of the Little Fighters were discharged, but not before we were able to give them their goodies! Thank you to LFCT Elves Carrina Niemand & Danie van Heerden for helping spread some joy to the children! It is greatly appreciated!
