✨Wishlist Wednesday✨ Food & Pre-Loved Goods

The one thing that we never have enough of at the Little Fighters Cancer Trust is FOOD.

More than 50% of the individual Childhood Cancer-affected families that are supported by the Little Fighters Cancer Trust have lost one income due to the child’s diagnosis.

This makes it very difficult for these families to ensure that their Child with Cancer has the nutritional food he or she needs in order to build up their immune system so that they can fight off the cancer.

LFCT helps out in excess of 100 families with food and other basic needs every month via our Feeding Our Families project.

We need YOUR help to put food on the table for many of our ‪‎Little Fighters and their Families who are really struggling.

✨Wishlist Wednesday✨ Family Food Support

It is winter in South Africa, and that means that we need to eat more, eat more hot food, and eat more nutritional food in order to stave off the bitter cold weather, influenza, the sniffles etc.

This is vitally important for our Little Fighters, as Children with Cancer need all of their strength to build up their immune system which is compromised due to the cancer and as a result of the treatments such as Chemotherapy and Radiation Therapy.

Children with Cancer have to follow a nutritionally specific diet, which is often impossible for cancer-affected families to follow due to lack of funds.

In excess of 50% of the individual Childhood Cancer-affected families that are supported by the Little Fighters Cancer Trust have lost one income due to the child’s diagnosis. LFCT supports in excess of 100 Childhood Cancer-affected Families with groceries every month!

With one parent in the hospital for months, sometimes years on end, the sole breadwinner struggles to make ends meet at home. The Little Fighters Cancer Trust ensures that these families have food in the home while the Child with Cancer is in and out of hospital via our Feeding Our Families project.

✨Wishlist Wednesday✨LFCT Pre-Loved Charity Shoppe

Good Afternoon from a chilly Western Cape to all our Supporters. We hope that you are all as comfy and warm as all of our Little Fighters who recently received soft, snuggly blankets compliments of all our Little Fighter Friends.

It is Wednesday again, which means that in this post we ask you for goodies that we need for our Little Fighters as well as other items on our Wishlist.

As most of you know by now, we moved premises (2 doors down) over the weekend, and are still busy getting everything sorted. Due to the fact that the new premises are much larger (YAY!), we have space for more goodies to sell and also need some Office & Shop Equipment etc.

We will give you more info on our move and our new premises as well as all the fantastic help that we had in tomorrow’s post – our supporters are ✨AWESOME ✨and deserve a post all to themselves…

Wishlist Wednesday: Office/Shop Equipment

Most of you know by now that we are moving the Little Fighters Cancer Trust Office & Pre-Loved Goods Charity shop  just up the road on the Saturday 15th July – and because the premises to which we are moving are quite a bit bigger (YAY!!) so that we can fit everything in comfortably, it DOES mean that we need some Furniture & Fittings for our new space (see list lower down).

While we usually do our bit for our Little Fighters and their Families on Mandela Day via our Mandela Day Project, this year it is US who need help. If any of you in the Paarl area are still looking for something to do as your Mandela Day Activity (67 minutes for Mandela), we are in need of your help!

Wishlist Wednesday: Snug As a Bug Project

While we have been focusing on our Get WRAPPED project of late, wherein the Little Fighters Cancer Trust has been very busy collecting soft, warm blankets in which to wrap our Little Fighters both in hospital and at home against the biting cold, especially during treatments, those deliveries will occur imminently and we are soon to launch our next winter project,  Snug As a Bug – for the 5th Year!

Our Snug As a Bug Project encompasses collecting and distributing warm winter clothing for our Little Fighters – both those who are in hospital and those who are still undergoing treatment but are currently at home because the Little Fighters Cancer Trust understands that Families in which there is a Child with Cancer are so cash-strapped due to only one parent working and all the extra expenses because of the cancer that they cannot afford to purchase new clothing.

Children with Cancer get really cold due to the treatments they are undergoing, such as Chemotherapy and Radiation Therapy, as well as due to their severely impaired immune systems, and cannot afford to get a cold or the flu so need to stay warm!

Wishlist Wednesday: Get WRAPPED Blanket Drive

So, it is Wishlist Wednesday again and we are continuing with our wish for  a massive donation of warm snuggly blankets for our Children with Cancer for our annual Get WRAPPED Project which in now in its 5th year!

Winter is HERE, people, and the nights are freezing – soon the days will be freezing cold too, what with the storm and snow season starting, so we need to get these blankies out to our Little Fighters as soon as possible.

Please help us to reach our target of 2 500 blankets this year – there will be many grateful smiles to say thank you, we promise!

There are many stores who currently have blanket specials on, especially for Polar Fleece blankets for as little as around R45, so when next you pop into Pick n Pay, Pep Stores, Game, etc. please pick up a blankie or two for our Little Fighters and their hospital bedside carer.

Wishlist Wednesday: Get WRAPPED Blanket Drive

We have decided to resurrect Wishlist Wednesday, and today we are wishing for a massive donation of warm snuggly blankets for our Children with Cancer for our annual Get WRAPPED Project which in now in its 5th year!

No child should have to go without decent bedding and a nice soft warm blanket to keep them warm in the cold winter months, let alone a child Fighting Cancer with all their might. Children undergoing chemotherapy treatment also get very cold during the treatment and it is terrible to see them shivering and shaking from cold.

The Little Fighters Cancer Trust asks for donations of new, preferably soft (for the children’s sensitive skins due to some of the treatment regimens) single bed blankets to keep our Little Fighters warm.

Only new blankets are accepted due to the compromised immune systems of our Little Fighters.
